I’m usually really lazy when it comes to my hair. I had really long, wavy hair for so long that I could easily wear a top knot instead of styling my hair, and I did. This was pretty much my usual hair style:
About a month ago I decided that I finally needed a major hair cut, and I hacked off about six inches of my hair. It is pretty much a layered bob of sorts. The most recent picture I have is from when I was 39 weeks pregnant. I had a baby two weeks ago, and frankly, selfies are not happening anytime soon. I rarely even put in my contact lenses for the day! Here’s the picture of my current hair cut:
I thought cutting my hair would make it easier and more manageable once the baby came. Silly me! I have wavy hair and it looks pretty awful with this hair cut unless I actually put some effort into styling and straightening my hair. I think I have found the right combination of hair products that make it easy to style and also cut down on the time it takes.
The Acure Organics leave-in conditioner and the Giovanni Frizz Be Gone are the two products that I start out with. These two products work the best for me with damp hair after being shampooed and conditioned. I have relatively knotty hair, and the leave-in conditioner works wonders for that without weighing it down, and the frizz be gone helps calm down the crazy little hairs by my scalp. It also makes my hair feel really soft and smooth after I straighten it. If I use either of these when my hair is dry then it feels and looks greasy, so I wouldn’t recommend using it on dry hair.
If I need a little texture in my hair then I’ll use a salt spray after any heat styling. The two products that I love to use are the Desert Essence Coconut hair Defrizzer & Heat Protector and the Gnarly Whale Thai coconut hair beach waves. They both have an amazing coconut scent. I love the way it makes my hair smell, and they are both good at adding some grit to the hair without making it look and feel dirty. They both also act as a heat protectant, so I can use them with wet or dry hair and before or after heat styling. I randomly found the Gnarly Whale salt spray at Urban Outfitters.
The last product that I reach for is the Acure Organics dry shampoo. This is for second and third day hair, because I honestly don’t have the time or patience to wash and style my hair again for at least three days! This is also the strongest dry shampoo I’ve used. I barely have to spray any into my hair and it soaks up any oils on my scalp immediately. You really have to work it into your hair to make sure there isn’t by residue, but it lasts all day and usually into the second day.
I hope this helps and let me know what products you love to use for your hair!
