I’m a big fan of writing lists. I find it extremely satisfying to cross out the projects and tasks that are complete, and then being able to go back and look at what I’ve accomplished. I would much rather carry around multiple notebooks with lists written down than create any sort of document on my phone or computer. Does this make me old-fashioned? It just feels more gratifying and real to me when it’s hand written.
For the entire year of 2014, the only lists I made were about Apollo. I was constantly creating lists in my head of what we needed to buy, how I wanted to rearrange furniture in our place to accommodate another child, and worrying about how and where Luna would be when I finally went into labor. I feel like I used so much energy on something that naturally worked itself out and looking back it was probably unnecessary. The thoughts and emotions of a pregnant woman are hard to change and bring down to earth, so no matter how many times Fred told me to relax or that everything would be okay, I had to wait and see for myself. I can almost laugh about it now, because Luna was having the time of her life with her Abuelita while I was in labor, and Apollo is content in one of two swings/chairs that we have for him. Silly mama! Always worrying…
Now that I’m not longer pregnant I’d like to focus on some additional things for the next 6 months. The one thing that I can say I honestly learned from a management class while working at Nordstrom is that you should only put things you can realistically accomplish on your lists. Either create daily lists so you can actually work through everything, or label everything on your list in order of importance and how quickly they need to be done. This is my list – it’s an arbitrary order of things, I’d just like to look back on this post on March 8, 2015 and be happy with the progress I made.
My goals from September 2014-March 2015
- Transition back to work successfully and pump at work, plus still breastfeeding at home
- Do yoga stretches daily
- Lose all my baby weight
- Get this blog up and running with enough content
- Save money
- Date nights with Fred
- Save up for a new camera
- Luna and Apollo transitioning well with our new daycare schedule
I’m also okay with this being an ever-changing list and seeing if I need to update it after a month or two with other items.
Are you making any lists? What are your goals for the next 6 months?
