Apollo is already 10 1/2 months old, so this is slightly overdue, but life has been hectic and busy lately. I’ve definitely been trying to juggle a ton of different things at once and still not getting enough sleep. Apollo has also been dealing with separation anxiety, which makes it even more difficult for me to get everything done.
Physically, Apollo is a little bam bam. He is climbing, jumping, crawling, dancing, waving, and being an all around crazy little man. He likes to roll around on the floor and loves being chased. He has much more deliberate actions now and waits to see how we’ll react. He is certainly growing a sense of humor and will laugh at himself or at us if he thinks we’re being silly.
He mastered his sippy cup on the first try, which is the complete opposite from Luna. It took her a long time to even consider using one, but Apollo can drink from it by himself without a problem. He can also drink from regular coconut water glass bottles like an adult would. He’s really good at controlling how much liquid is swallowed at a time and loves sharing water or coconut water with Fred.
Apollo’s appetite has been really hard to figure out. He was so eager to start eating solids before he was even 6 months old, and when we first introduced them he loved eating. After his teeth starting coming in and other general growing pains kicked in, it became a lot harder to get him to eat. This on and off cycle is what we’ve been dealing with for the past 4 months. Some days he loves food, other days he just wants to breastfeed. Fred and I finally upgraded our blender to a ninja, and now we’re able to blend food that we’re eating for Apollo and he has really loved it. His favorites so far are fresh strawberries and banana, but I just gave him some brown rice pasta and tomato sauce, and he really liked it. He also loves baked sweet potatoes with some cinnamon on top and eggs. It seems like he’ll be happy when he can eat whatever we’re eating.
I just can’t believe that tomorrow is July 1! That means Apollo’s first birthday is around the corner and then Luna’s 5th birthday! I am planning on giving them both really exciting birthday parties this year, but it’s really crazy for me to know that I’ll have a 5 year old soon.
