I can’t believe my first little rugrat is already 5 years old. It’s a weird combination of feeling like she’s been with me for my entire life, and also that we just met. I feel connected to her in a way that is very hard to explain, but I have a feeling that most mothers know what I mean.
Fred and I both have the parent guilt with thinking that we haven’t given Luna real birthday parties or made them special enough for her. She really wanted a party at Chuck E. Cheese’s, so we made it our mission to throw her a kick ass party and try to get her friends from her old day-care to come. Major shout out to my husband for pretty much planning the entire thing himself, while I focused on the presents and decorations. He was able to get three of her old friends that she hasn’t been able to see in a year to come, and also ordered her a custom cake from Sticky Fingers! Luna wanted the “grasshopper” cake, which is a chocolate cake with vanilla mint frosting, and she picked the kitty cat design. The cake was beautiful, vegan & wheat free(!!!) and so delicious! I’m so happy with how everything turned out. I was seriously on a serotonin high the whole day with how well the party went and just how much fun we all had. Look at this beauty:
I decorated Luna’s door with streamers and balloons so she would have a nice surprise in the morning. I also found the coolest balloons that were huge and put those around her door. She came out of her room on her birthday jumping and clapping with joy. It was really sweet! I hung up a happy birthday banner by our table so she could look at it while she ate breakfast.
I didn’t take a ton of pictures at her party because we were enjoying ourselves! Luna and I ran around and played as many games as we could to win tickets. We ended up with about 2,500 tickets from all of the games, the pinata, and the ticket blaster. She traded them in for a Frozen painting and art set (of course). She is forever the little artist.
To top it off, the weather was absolutely beautiful. We spent some time outside and then we ate the most delicious dinner from Paladar. It was such a lovely day!
