I am the biggest book nerd/lover. I used to read about 10 books a month and loved every minute of it. Once I graduated college, got a full-time job, and then pretty soon after got married and had a baby, it made it really hard for me to find free time to read. I now have even less time to read with two kids and an even busier schedule, but I’m going to make it a goal of mine to read at least one book a month. I have so many books that I can recommend, mostly in the magical realism genre, and here are some of my favorites:
- Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami. I love his writing style, story-telling, and use of magic throughout all of his books. Another great book by Murakami is The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle.
- Cloud Atlas: A Novel by David Mitchell. I don’t think this is traditionally considered magical realism and I read this book in 2005, but I still love it to this day and I refuse to see the movie.
- Everything is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer
- The Sea Came in at Midnight by Steve Erickson.
- On Beauty by Zadie Smith
