I can’t believe it’s almost April! Although I’m really looking forward to Spring, time seriously needs to slow down.
March for me has been a whirlwind of late nights at work, working 12 hour shifts, and getting little to no sleep for days at a time! My favorites for this month are all skin care and eye care based because I have had HUGE bags under my eyes this month. I’m hoping that I’ll be getting some more sleep in the near future, but I think that might be wishful thinking!
A recent addition to my routine has been the Alba Botanica Fast Fix For Puffy Eyes. I found this product while I was browsing around Target with the kids one morning in a haze after a long night at work. The bright blue packaging and the large white letters jumped out at me! It was in the wrong place in the make up section, but to my surprise it only cost $3.29! It contains caffeine, green tea, and cucumber to help wake up your under eyes and soothe any of the puffy, inflamed skin. The formulation is pretty liquidy, so be cautious when squeezing the tube. They recommend putting it in the fridge for an extra cooling effect, which I imagine might help solidify it a bit as well. Also, no animal testing!
Another eye cream that I’ve been enjoying this month is the John Masters Organics firming eye gel. I really prefer a gel consistency than a heavy cream for under my eyes. I’ve used really thick eye creams before that ended up clogging the skin under my eyes and giving me extra milia-like dots near my tear ducts. This eye gel has extracts of rice and rye that help with inflammation and wrinkles. It absorbs really well and is an instant pick me up in the morning. This is also cruelty-free!
I have naturally dry skin and every winter my skin starts to feel tight and I get dry patches on my cheeks and forehead. I got myself into a vicious cycle with downing coffee to make up for my lack of sleep, which further dehydrated my body and in-turn my skin. Other than trying to increase my water intake, there have been a few face products this month that have helped dramatically with my dry skin.
At the beginning of March when it was super cold, dry and snowy, the only thing that relieved my skin was surprisingly another product that I found at target. The Hydrating Day Cream in the Boots Botanics Organic line has been the only cream that I use at night for the entire month. This is extremely hydrating and instantly helped with the tightness in my face after a long day in the cold weather. It contains rosehips, which gives it a pretty strong scent, but I actually really like the smell.
As long as I use the Boots cream at night, then I can get away with a lighter cream in the morning. The John Masters Organics rose & apricot day cream has my been my favorite. It has omega 6 to protect the skin against bacteria, and oat kernel extract to help with collagen production. This stuff makes my skin feel really soft and smooth. It absorbs really well and has a mild rosy, citrus scent.
Just in case:
The last product I’ve been loving is the Sibu sea buckthorn seed oil. This is a back up for any day when my skin just feels awful or looks really dull. The oil is therapeutic-grade and a miracle worker. It has helped me so much with getting rid of any dry patches on my face and a little bit goes a long way. I only use a few drops for my entire face and it absorbs so fast for an oil, enough that I can use it in the morning under my make up! Sea buckthorn has so many healing properties, especially with eczema and burns. An added benefit for me is that the company is amazing and gives back to so many Tibetan women that harvest the sea buckthorn for their products.
