A tasty post-workout smoothie made with plant-based protein, acai, and sunflower lecithin – then layered over a chia pudding mixed with healthy greens.
I have finally committed to a workout routine, and I’m really proud of myself for sticking to it. I’ve been going to the gym at least four times a week with a strong focus on strength training. It’s a million times more fun and rewarding to lift weights than just doing cardio for 45 minutes.
Since I’ve been lifting more often, my post-workout meals have become increasingly important. I want to make sure that I’m giving my body and muscles a good balance of protein and carbs to recover, and it helps me sleep way better! There are a few plant-based supplements that I’ve been adding to my post-workout smoothie, and they can easily be thrown into chia pudding.
Also, I’m not a nutritionist! I just try to listen to my body and find a combination of vitamins, minerals and plant-based foods that make me feel good.
Post-Workout Smoothie & Chia Pudding
My favorite powders to add to any post-workout smoothie are a plant-based protein powder, sunflower lecithin and greens. Lately, I’ve been using the Essential Living Foods Organic Superfood Smoothie Mix that has pea and hemp protein. I combine it with frozen acai and frozen blueberries for a really fruity smoothie.
I also really love adding sunflower lecithin to my post-workout smoothie because it adds a really nice nutty flavor. I originally started incorporating it into my smoothies because of the potential benefits for my brain and heart. I’m hoping this will help with my perpetual mom brain and help me stay focused!
Another thing that I like to add to my smoothies and chia pudding are greens. Powdered greens are the easiest to mix in with chia pudding, but I prefer the real deal leafy greens in my smoothies. My favorites are spinach and baby kale.
